"Triage has changed me and I couldn't be happier..."

It’s normal to feel like there aren’t enough hours in the day and it can be easy to feel overwhelmed with childcare and home-life.

This was true for Andrea’s participant, Amy, who joined the Restart Scheme a year ago.

“When I first started Triage, I was a bit scared, I didn't want anyone to help me and I wasn't really interested in finding work,” said Amy.

“And, although I hate to say it, Triage and Andrea have changed me so much and I couldn't be happier knowing that they have pushed me out of my shell and made me the person that I am today.”

Childcare – like for many – was a real sticking point for Amy when it came to finding work: “Having two children is a fulltime job already. But, over time, I started to think about my children and came round to the idea of accepting Andrea’s help.”

Andrea and Amy investigated childcare support and with solutions in place, it opened up opportunities for Amy to start some skills training, work on her CV and begin job searching.

“Amy went from being uninterested in finding work to arriving early for her appointments with a huge smile on her face. Now working in a role that suits her schedule, has great transport links and most importantly, she enjoys, I am so proud of Amy. Stories like Amy’s are why I love my job,” said Andrea.

“I just want to thank the whole Restart Scheme team for everything that you have done, I am so grateful, I don't want to leave, but I knew at some point the time would come,” said Amy.

Not only has Andrea helped Amy to change her entire mindset, but she also helped her find childcare solutions, source employment and encouraged her to turn her crafting hobby into a business – something Amy is working on in her free time. Together, the pair have created a whole new life for Amy and her family - a testament to the power of finding the right work at the right time.
